In the summer of 1966, Elise witnesses her family being torn apart by the sudden departure of her journalist mother. Consequently, brother Coco finds solace obsessively building things and young, learning-disabled Benoit drifts slowly into a dreamworld. Their father’s awkwardness and inability to cope forces Elise to repress her own anger and take charge of the household.
