Set in Dublin, the film is a bittersweet coming-of-age tale chronicling the lives of four 13-year old schoolgirls in 1979. The girls' strict upbringing is juxtaposed with a burgeoning interest in the opposite sex, illustrated by their preoccupation with bras and bra-sizes. Amusingly 32A is not only their bra size but also the route number of the city bus they ride.
